terra nova video, 15:24 min, Newfoundland, Canada, 2011, music by Anja Lautermann > view video on vimeo above: video stills The video interweaves the history of early European settlement in Newfoundland with the present: the largely unspoiled nature of the Newfoundland shores is blended with ancient maps to reflect the evolving perception of the New World and combined with individual family stories of the settlers' descendants. It aims to transport the feeling of people who came across the ocean to stay and reveal that Newfoundland has preserved its character of being Terra Nova, the Newfound Land, to the present day. The video was realized during an Artist Residency at Terra Nova National Park. < overview works
