The work shows the view onto an ice plane in a lurid yet diffuse light, stretching out to the horizon. At first sight the scenery seems to be massive and static. Yet, the second sight is irritating: Is it an optical illusion or actual movement that one is perceiving? Soon it gets clear: One is looking not at a closed surface of pack ice but onto a dense packing of pieces thereof in the cove, that follow smoothly the movement of the waves of the water underneath. No digital effects were used to modify the video footage. The sound is of natural origin as well: The sound of the waves and surge is only affected by the icy layer on top.

The video was created during an artist residency at the Pouch Cove Foundation, Newfoundland, Canada.
