face to face (across the sea)

video installation with two monitors, Ireland / Newfoundland 2012
[The work was also realised as an outdoor installation with two projections]

The work aims to underline the close relation of the opposite shores of the North Atlantic by shrinking the ocean and enabling the viewer to look from one side across to the other, then cross it by a few steps to the other monitor and look back across again.

This is achieved by displaying video sequences filmed from closest opposite points towards the respective other − from Bolus Head in Kerry, Ireland and from Sandy Cove Head on Fogo Island, Newfoundland − on two monitors standing back to back to each other in an WSW-ENE axis.
